The Kitchen,
from Virginia Beer Co.

A modern hospitality environment that improves flow, clarifies experience, and extends the brand’s warm, community-driven identity.

Virginia Beer Co. has spent the last decade building one of Virginia’s most beloved craft beer brands, rooted in good beer, good people, and a strong sense of community. When the opportunity came to expand into Yorktown with their first full-service brewpub, The Kitchen, it was a chance to grow that hospitality experience into something bigger, carrying the warmth and energy of the flagship taproom into an entirely new kind of gathering space.

When we signed on, the building had been sitting partially finished for several years, caught in the limbo of changing hands, shifting plans, and unfinished construction.

We were brought in to help reimagine the interior experience, making sense of what was already there while shaping a clearer vision for what it could become.

Through strategic space planning, custom millwork, lighting, furniture selections, acoustic treatments, and way-finding, we helped solve operational bottlenecks, improve guest flow, and create a stronger sense of cohesion throughout the space.

The result is a brewpub that feels welcoming, classicly comfortable, and fresh all at once. Inspired by Scandinavian oyster bars, The Kitchen balances warmth, movement, and utility in a way that makes people want to stay a little longer, come back often, and feel like they belong there.
